And I respond: In a nutshell, life is preparation for eternity. We were not made to last forever, and God wants us to be with Him in Heaven. One day my heart is going to stop, and that will be the end of my body but not the end of me. I may live 60 to 100 years on earth, but I am going to spend trillions of years in eternity.

This is the warm-up act - the dress rehearsal. God wants us to practice on earth what we will do forever in eternity. We were made by God and for God, and until you figure that out, life isn't going to make sense.

Life is a series of problems: Either you are in one now, you're just coming out of one, or you're getting ready to go into another one. The reason for this is that God is more interested in your character than your comfort. God is more interested in making your life holy than He is in making your life happy. We can be reasonably happy here on earth, but that's not the goal of life.

The goal is to grow in character, in Christ likeness.

This past year has been the greatest year of my life but also the toughest, with my wife, Kay, getting cancer. I used to think that life was hills and valleys - you go through a dark time, then you go to the mountaintop, back and forth. I don't believe that anymore. Rather than life being hills and valleys, I believe that it's kind of like two rails on a railroad track, and at all times you have something good and something bad in your life. No matter how good things are in your life, there is always something bad that needs to be worked on. And no matter how bad things are in your life, there is always something good you can thank God for.

You can focus on your purposes, or you can focus on your problems. If you focus on your problems, you're going into self-centeredness,'which is my problem, my issues, my pain.' But one of the easiest ways to get rid of pain is to get your focus off yourself and onto God and others.

We discovered quickly that in spite of the prayers of hundreds of thousands of people, God was not going to heal Kay or make it easy for her. It has been very difficult for her, and yet God has strengthened her character, given her a ministry of helping other people, given her a testimony, drawn her closer to Him and to people.

You have to learn to deal with both the good and the bad of life. Actually, sometimes learning to deal with the good is harder. For instance, this past year, all of a sudden, when the book sold 15 million copies, it made me instantly very wealthy. It also brought a lot of notoriety that I had never had to deal with before. I don't think God gives you money or notoriety for your own ego or for you to live a life of ease. So I began to ask God what He wanted me to do with this money, notoriety and influence. He gave me two different passages that helped me decide what to do, II Corinthians 9 and Psalm 72

First, in spite of all the money coming in, we would not change our lifestyle one bit. We made no major purchases. Second, about midway through last year, I stopped taking a salary from the church. Third, we set up foundations to fund an initiative we call The Peace Plan to plant churches, equip leaders, assist the poor, care for the sick, and educate the next generation. Fourth, I added up all that the church had paid me in the 24 years since I started the church, and I gave it all back. It was liberating to be able to serve God for free.

We need to ask ourselves: Am I going to live for possessions? Popularity? Am I going to be driven by pressures? Guilt? Bitterness? Materialism? Or am I going to be driven by God's purposes (for my life)?

When I get up in the morning, I sit on the side of my bed and say, God, if I don't get anything else done today, I want to know = You more and love You better. God didn't put me on earth just to fulfill a to-do list. He's more interested in what I am than what I do.

That's why we're called human beings, not human doings.

Happy moments, PRAISE GOD.

Difficult moments, SEEK GOD.

Quiet moments, WORSHIP GOD.

Painful moments, TRUST GOD.

Every moment, THANK GOD.

JESUS IS GOING TO BATHURST!

The Jesus Racing team – which has established a strong following in the Yokohama V8 Ute series- will field a car in the Bathurst V8 Supercar Fujitsu round on October 11, 2008.

Wollongong Performance Racing (WPR) will run Jesus Racing’s Andrew Fisher in the ex Paul Morris Motorsports Supercar, which will boast the eyecatching “Jesus. All about life.” livery.
WPR currently run the Jesus Racing’s V8 Ute in the Yokohama V8 Ute series.

Driver Andrew Fisher also drove for the team last year, winning ‘Rookie of the Year’ and finishing 4th in the championship. “The opportunity for Jesus Racing to move into the Fujitsu series is significant for our team,” says Jesus Racing coordinator Steve Peach. “Jesus Racing spends much of the week visiting schools, introducing motorsport and the ‘Jesus. All about life.’ campaign. Having Andrew involved in the Supercar series makes this work even more appealing and effective. When it came to racing at Bathurst, it was important Jesus Racing chose the
right team to work with as we wanted both professionalism and to be competitive. WPR was the obvious choice,” says Steve.

“We have a great relationship with the WPR team and they have great confidence in Andrew’s ability to meet the challenge.”

Bible Society NSW (which runs the ‘Jesus. All about life.’ program around Australia) is standing alongside Jesus Racing in this bold initiative. Motor Sport is not where you would expect the Bible Society to focus its efforts, however the organisation recognizes the tremendous opportunities in using Andrew’s profile in motor sport to connect teenagers with Jesus. So why Bathurst in a Supercar?

“The answer is simple”, says Steve. “Bathurst is the most prominent race circuit in the country and the V8 Super cars is our premier category. This is the perfect place to participate as a professional race team, as well as present the name of Jesus to an audience that wouldn’t normally see it in this environment. We are hugely excited about the opportunity, not only by the racing, but because of the opportunities off the circuit.”

Bathurst weekend will be busy for the team, doing double duty in both the Ute’s and the Supercars, as well as taking the Ute and the ‘Jesus. All about life.’ to surrounding schools in the weeks close to the Bathurst round.

FOR MORE INFORMATION, PHOTOS OR INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITIES,
PLEASE CONTACT LINDSAY FISHER on 0413 02 02 61.
FOR MINISTRY INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT
STEVE PEACH ON 0419 564 050.
OR GO TO WWW.JESUSRACING.COM.AU

JESUS SURVIVES HEAD ON CRASH!

A good Christian friend of mine who builds race engines - and has a lot of trophies in his cabinet - told me that a certain Lotus racing car with the prominent "Jesus" sticker across the bonnet (which you will find elsewhere on this blogsite) was involved in a head-on crash at the weekend. It blew its engine and spun off the circuit into the sand trap. A Ferrari travelling at something like 280 km/h hit the same oil slick and flew off the track straight into the stationery Lotus. Because both cars are made of fibreglass their bodies disintegrated into thousands of tiny particles. Both cars were written off. The Jesus driver got out unharmed and the Ferrari driver suffered a broken leg. Apparently, the only intact piece of 'glass left on the Lotus was the piece with the word Jesus on it!!!

MANZONE'S COLIN CROME TO SPEAK AT COWRA (SEPT 5)

DATE: Friday Sept 5

VENUE: Cowra Function Centre, Chardonnay Road, Cowra

FORMAT: Dinner

COST: $25.00 per head, pay at the door

TIME: 7PM

RSVP: to Craig (0407 054 483, craighingston@gmail.com) before end of August

SPEAKER: Colin Crome is Associate Pastor and Worship Pastor of Abundant Life Church Blayney, and has been a member of the NSW Police Force for over 20 years. Land owner George King, who has completed a number of advanced driver training courses and knows full well the importance of having confidence behind the wheel, was only too happy to let his land be used for this purpose. At the end of the day he invited the organisers (Christian Autosports Club of Australia) to come back at any time to run another event and the Club has responded by committing to the staging of a second Driver Training Day in November.

The Driver Training Day was the culmination of more than eight months of preparation and planning by Blayney residents Craig Hingston and Trevor Hibbs - the first CACA members in the Central West, and leaders at Abundant Life Church Blayney which got behind it in a big way.

“We are always looking for practical ways to help our community”, says Craig, “I moved to Blayney last year from Sydney and, as a member of Christian Autosports for many years, I knew that we were looking to take our driver training expertise out to the country areas. So, I asked the Club to consider Blayney district as its first regional venture out west and they agreed. I also presented the idea to the leadership of Abundant Life Church Blayney and they immediately decided to support it as much as they could. In the end that meant handling the organising and promotion of the day, subsidising the entry fees of all of the drivers, purchasing the food and drink, and providing volunteer help and some of the equipment.”

“The ages ranged from 12 years to adult”, adds Trevor, “And they drove everything from hatchbacks to a tray top ute to Landcruiser four wheel drives. Whilst most of the drivers came from Orange, Blayney and Bathurst, others came from as far away as Canowindra and Manildra.”

Christian Autosports Club of Australia, which is more than 30 years old, has been running these events in Sydney for a long time, and conducts driver training events every month. The club has a number of members who have either decades of motor sport experience or who are professional advanced driver trainers. The non-denominational not-for-profit organisation has observed that learner drivers, P-platers, “nervous Mums” and adults of varying ages with all levels of driving experience have benefited from attending.

The Driver Training Day was a “non speed event” to acquire or improve basic driving skills in a “safe and friendly” environment. Normal road going cars manoeuvre around witches hats, markers or flags in a set direction, generally using first gear. Car control is the most important aspect of the day - not speed. One-on-one supervision was provided by the CACA officials.

Drivers received a special one day “Come ‘N Try” licence from the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport which sanctioned the event. Vehicles were inspected by CACA scrutineers for road worthiness.

The drivers followed a series of courses – with such names as Crazy Square and Straight Slalom - marked by witches hats and coloured flags in fenced-off areas along the air strip. With only one vehicle in each area at any one time the worst thing that happened was flipping over a witches hat.

The drivers started the day very cautiously with a number of vehicles steering around the markers at not much more than walking pace. Officials timed them so that they could assess the improvement of each driver throughout the day. Then, they witnessed the State Motorkhana Champion, 15 year old Robyn Annabel, as she took a standard road car and demonstrated how it could be done with a lot of practice.

The demonstration must have helped to build confidence because from then on the drivers became more willing to let their vehicles break traction and understeer or oversteer, as they worked out how to keep them under control. Some managed to improve their times by more than 20 seconds which showed a dramatic improvement in car control. By the end of the day they were all smiles and wanting more runs!

CACA officials led group discussions throughout the day to get valuable feedback from the drivers and to offer advice. One official who coaches government departments on advanced driver safety gave everyone a practical demonstration in how to correctly position yourself in the drivers’ seat, place your feet on the pedals and hold the steering wheel. Simple advice but very worthwhile.

At the close of the day - with most of the drivers indicating with a show of hands that they would like to participate in another Driver Training Day in the future, and their parents in full agreement - the CACA officials presented “Most Improved” awards to three local teenagers who had shown remarkable progress. Attendance certificates are being posted out to each driver.

Craig and Trevor are very thankful for the support they received in preparing the event. It all began when they were introduced to the region’s Road Safety Officer, Iris Dorsett, last year and this led to a presentation of the concept to Blayney Shire Council and police in November 2007. The late Ted Wilson immediately recognised the merit of the program and tasked Council assist with finding a suitable venue. That support continued through the work of new mayor, Scott Ferguson.

“We presented the concept to Newcrest Mines at CADIA and their immediate response was ‘How can we help you?’ As a result, they supplied us with all of the safety bunting and the Portaloos. IGA Blayney assisted with the pricing of the food and drink we ordered. John Davis Motors from Orange gave us the big marquee for the day, and Blayney SES let us use their generator. This support was typical of the response we have received in the district. When I was asking if business operators in Blayney would put up our poster in their window they welcomed the opportunity to provide young and inexperienced drivers with valuable experience in a safe environment. At the same time, the mums and dads who called and emailed me said the same thing”, adds Craig.

“Our intent was to upskill drivers of varying ages and levels of experience, especially L and P platers, so that they gain superior road skills…hopefully minimising the incidence of accident or personal injury”, says Trevor, “We would hope that the ‘graduates’ of our event would become ambassadors for improved driver education in our region, and use positive peer pressure to influence their friends.”

Guys...No Need To Enrol (!)

A member of the "other gender" sent this to me. All about life branding on a Fujitsu Supercar at Bathurst. Andrew has avoided the idea of running in the Fujitsu series as he feels that the V8 utes provide better value for money however there is no doubting that the wider community believes that V8 Supercars are the "real deal" and this is further magnified by the relationship the Supercars have with Bathurst.

The opportunity for Andrew and the Jesus Racing Team has come from two of the leading Fujitsu series teams.

Andrew said "it has been really challenging to think about this opportunity because it is not something I have been pushing for. The Bible Society is right behind the idea as they can see how it will assist us to open even more doors for the Schools ministry program and will create a fantastic Public Relationship story at the time they are launching the Sydney 2009 Jesus. All about life program".

Steve Peach said "Some people have been surprised about the level of skill and competitiveness Andrew has displayed in the Ute series, he has been very successful in just 18 months. The Christian community as a whole has stood behind Andrew and the endeavours of Jesus Racing to bring the name of Jesus into the market place in such a bold fashion, the fact that Andrew runs at the front of the field has been positive fuel to that fire.

Although Jesus Racing is not looking to step out of the Ute series the opportunity to promote the Jesus. All about life brand on the Bathurst V8 Supercar stage is to great to pass up".

It's truly an exciting opportunity and one that both Andrew and Steve don't feel has been manufactured or manipulated. They both feel God's hand in it.

Potential Opposition: The potential opposition to this move is quite significant. Australian Motor Sport is a unique environment and has a lot of egos. It also has its fair share of ungodly activities, competition and selfishness. Bringing the name of Jesus into the centre of this culture, in the country's most serious form of racing at the country's most prominent circuit is surely going to stir some people. Those that were nominally opposed to Andrew's boldness or slightly annoyed at the stand Jesus Racing makes in the Ute series which is known for its "entertainment" value will surely get louder and more serious with Jesus Racing's V8 Supercar involvement. It's important for us to understand this move has never been made before in Australian Motor sport, not even close. That then gives us great opportunity for coverage and exposure for the name of Jesus, but it will also bring substantial opposition.

Requirements for success: The cost of running a V8 Supercar at Bathurst along with a quality team and all it's input is not cheap as you can imagine. Given the success we have achieved in the V8 Ute series it would be less than helpful for Jesus Racing to run with a team that is sub-standard, it is going to be difficult enough as it is to step up and be competitive as a Rookie let-a-lone with sub-standard equipment. The cost however for doing this including testing is going to cost around $60 -70,000 including us having an in-car camera promoting the Jesus. All about life program. This sounds like a lot of money however the team received $120,000 worth of TV coverage at the Philip Island round in the V8 Utes last year when we had the in-car camera so our expectations would be significantly more than this at Bathurst. The Public relationship value and the ministry opportunity value will be extraordinary.

Just over $40,000 has already been committed to for this venture and this gives us a clear indication that God is a part of it. We do however need to raise the other funds as we do not want to dip into the Jesus Ute program funds as this may jeopardise the success of this program.

If you feel like this is something you would like to contribute to we would love to hear from you. If you would like to do so via the tax deductible Areopagus Trust please do so however please note that your contribution is for the V8 Supercar as we don't want to negatively impact on our Ute series campaign for 2008.

Finally this venture will also require some significant prayer support, we would appreciate your time and efforts in this area as well. As supporters of Jesus Racing we understand that you either enjoy motor sport and want to see that vehicle used to glorify God and bring life to people or that you want to personally support Andrew and Steve in the Jesus Racing ministry and its activities.

If you have any feedback or feel that you are in a position to assist us in any way, please feel free to make contact with us via Steve Peach. He can be contacted via email on steve@jesusracing.com.au

Sorry To Confuse You...

These most recent entries all relate to a community event we are involved in. We presented our concept to CADIA and, apart from their enthusiasm and support, they have contributed in a very practical way. They were quick to ask "How can we be of assistance?" and the result will be two Portaloo-type toilets and safety bunting material which we will use to indicate where entry, parking, driver course areas are. They also offered to deliver and pick everything up for us. As a youth pastor he saw a "mini revival" at a youth drop-in center he established in Parramatta. Many of the young people who were saved and filled with the Spirit at that time are serving God today. He worked with Pastor Gordon Gibbs in establishing the Penrith Christian Fellowship Centre in Western Sydney and went on to become the Senior Minister in the early eighties. The church grew to become one of the largest Pentecostal churches in Sydney at the time with excellent ministry training facilities and a flourishing Christian School, and some very successful Church plants. Rob's vision has always been to train others for Christian Ministry and as a result dozens of men and women are serving God here in Australia and in various places arround the world - some in quite significant churches. Rob's refreshing teaching style and over 45 years of ministry experience will make for a dynamic and life challenging time at 'Wildfire'

Bike Lovers Welcome To WILDFIRE

One of the drawcards of WILDFIRE Mens Conference 2008 (June 21) will be the display cars and bikes. There were about 37 men there to hear John on Thursday and it is a pity there were not more – then again the venue was full up."

Hoping that John Anderson does agree to return to our region.

MANZONE MOVERS

MANZONE kicked off a community service today with our inaugural house moving team activated to help a single mum and her four kids take their belongings and furniture to Carcoar. For a start, if we don't change then the next generation might change even less. And this is something that international commentators on Christianity have revealed. According to Christian researcher, George Barna, many profess a Christian faith, but their lifestyles do not reflect that faith. When asked to describe their goals in life less than 1 % of Christians surveyed mentioned anything related to holiness, righteousness or purity. Among the total population (in the U.S.), the percentage of evangelical youth that believes in the fundamentals of faith declined from 10 % in 1995 to 4 % in 2002, and for adults, it was 12 % in 1994 down to 5 % in '02. The church culture is dying out among younger people. The following are percentages of people attending church on a given weekend in America: Builders (born before 1946): 51% Boomers (born 1946 to 1964): 41% Busters (born 1965 to 1976): 34% Bridgers (born 1977 to 1994): 29%. In America, approximately one-third of all adults (65 to 70 million) - including about 10 million people who call themselves born again Christians - do not go to church.

I know these are American stat's but here in Australia there are similarities with the figures. The younger generation are by and large not interested in things of God. We need to show them as well as adult Aussies that a loving, forgiving God desires to live life with them...and lead them to an eternal future. Men, commit to change. First of all, within ourselves. For our families. Our generation. The next generation.

Meditation...God's Way

When you hear the word meditation do you think of New Age mystics tied in cross-legged knots? These gurus aren't the authentic source of this life-changing practice. God is. The distorted goal of eastern mystics is to empty your mind; the goal of meditation for the believer is to fill it.

"Christian meditation," writes Richard Foster in Celebration of Discipline, "creates the emotional and spiritual space that allows you to hear God's voice … and center yourself in God's kingdom, so the kingdom of this world doesn't overwhelm you."

Concerned you may never find time to reflect? Relax. If you think about it, you probably spend a fair amount of time worrying each week. "When you think about a problem over and over in your mind," writes Rick Warren in The Purpose Driven Life, "that's called worry. When you think about God's Word over and over in your mind, that's meditation. If you know how to worry, you already know how to meditate. Just switch your attention from your problems to Bible verses."

Written by Tom Blackaby, director of Blackaby Ministries International.

Saying It As It Is!!!

When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open the new session of the Kansas Senate everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard........

"Heavenly Father,We come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of speech and expression. We have ridiculed the time honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, oh God, and know our hearts today. Cleanse us from every sin and set us free. Amen!'

The response was immediate. A number of legislators walked out during the prayer in protest. In 6 short weeks, Central Christian Church where Rev. Wright is pastor, logged more than 5,000 phone calls with only 47 of those calls responding negatively. The church is now receiving international requests for copies of this prayer from India , Africa and Korea. Commentator Paul Harvey aired this prayer on his radio program, 'The Rest of the Story,' and received a larger response to this program than any other he has ever aired.

May 22 - Mens Dinner, Bathurst

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201625200125290674" style="DISPLAY: block; Each one tells you the performance of the engine, oil, water, battery, etc. at a glance. So, where are the needles pointing in the eight crucial performance areas of your life?

See that big gauge in front of you...it is the "God's Word" (Bible) gauge. We need to be daily
studying and applying God's Word to our life independent of what we learn at church or in our Bible study group (sometimes called a home fellowship). To put it bluntly, we can't do life without God's wisdom. It is the fuel in our tank. The Bible applies to every single area of our life. Emotions, intellect, marriage, family, friendships, workplace, government, society. Men, we have an awesome responsibility to be the spiritual head of the house and that means having to know what God says about various things in life. So that you can share that wisdom with your partner and children. It is a vast book that continually unravels new insight to us. Which is why it is good to use a study guide, concordance or commentaries, to assist in your study. Try to find some time each day (not necessarily the same time if that is a challenge) when you can get away from distractions and focus on the Word. One time killer is television. Another is newspapers and magazines. Can you take yourself away from the Idiot Box for 15-20 minutes to invest in your life?!

A gauge that sits alongside is "Biblical Instruction" which is the learning you get when you study the word with other Christians. It is good to get other perspectives on the Word. And to confirm what you have found through it. It is in these environments (eg. weekly fellowship) that your confidence grows, and you can make great friendships with other men (in which you may realise that the challenges facing you are not unique and in fact confront other men as well).

The "Application" gauge shows if you are applying God's Word to areas of your life. It is one thing to know something...it is another to fully understand it to the point that it is used in your decision-making, behaviour, attitudes, thought life, etc. There are Christians who know the Bible but don't experience any changes in their life. To apply God's wisdom to your life shows the trust you have in God...yes, you do believe His wisdom is beneficial to you...yes, you do believe that God wants you to be successful and He has a plan for you...yes, you are willing to humble yourself and change...yes, you are willing to go through the hard work of change. (James 1:22-25; Ezekiel 33:30-32)

"Unity" is a gauge that many men ignore. Or the needle is barely above "LOW". It is the getting together on a regular basis of men for the purposes of community, accountability, confession, and prayer (Galatians 6:1-3; James 5:16; Hebrews 10:23-24). It can be as simple as a BBQ...watching footy on TV...a game of snooker...going fishing... Let's face it, we can talk about the things of God and share how we're doing anywhere. We are hard wired by God for fellowship but in our madcap worlds of work commitments, family, etc. we often forget to take time out "with the guys".

The "Overcoming" gauge is one that sometimes looks dormant for a while then spikes into the red zone like a top fuel dragster engine on take off. It represents our ability to address major life temptations and/or crises and to work our way through them. Often, situations hit us "from left field" when we least expect it. They can knock us for a six. Some crises are short like a quarter mile drag...others go on for weeks or months or even years like a Bathurst 12 Hour marathon. That's when we need Godly wisdom as well as the support and encouragement from ministry leaders and friends (Ecclesiastes 4:9-12).

Each one of us has unique gifts and talents. Mine will be different from yours. At MANZONE we have a fantastic cross-section of abilities amongst our men. God has called each of us to pour out to others what He has poured into us (1 Peter 4:10-11; Ephesians 4:11-13). Not necessarily a "ministry" position. Every contribution towards the function and growth of the Kingdom is worthy. So, check your "Talents And Skills" gauge too.

The "Impact" gauge has nothing to do with running up the back of someone. It shows if you have been investing any of your time and resources into the lives of other men. Men understand men. We're wired the same way. It is good when men get alongside each other to offer advice, encouragement, unity. We are spiritual mentors (2 Tim. 2:22; Proverbs 27:17; Mark 3:13-14) to our generation and those following up behind us.

The last gauge on the Christian man's dashboard is the "Sharing" one. It records the level of activity we have invested in actively share our faith in order to lead others into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ (Acts 1:8; 1 Peter 3:15; Matthew 28:18-20).

So...take your foot off the accelerator of life for a moment...put your life in Park...and check those gauges. If any of the needles are down near LOW you should make a plan to work on that area of yourself. Otherwise you could risk overheating or blowing an engine!!!

DATES FOR YOUR DIARY

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5201606577147095186" style="DISPLAY: block; If it “sings,” it’s ready. If it “thuds,” it’s placed back in the oven. The character of a person is also checked by thumping. Been thumped lately? Late-night phone calls. Grouchy teacher. Grumpy moms. Burnt meals. Flat tires. You’ve-got-to-be-kidding deadlines. Those are thumps. Thumps are those irritating inconveniences that trigger the worst in us. They catch us off guard. Flat-footed. They aren’t big enough to be crises, but if you get enough of them, watch out! Traffic jams. Long lines. Empty mailboxes. Dirty clothes on the floor. Even as I write this, I’m being thumped. Because of interruptions, it has taken me almost two hours to write these two paragraphs. Thump. Thump. Thump.

How do I respond? Do I sing, or do I thud? Jesus said that out of the nature of the heart a man speaks (Luke 6:45). There’s nothing like a good thump to reveal the nature of a heart. The true character of a person is seen not in momentary heroics but in the thump-packed humdrum of day-to-day living. If you have a tendency to thud more than you sing, take heart. There is hope for us “thudders”: Begin by thanking God for thumps. I don’t mean a half-hearted thank-you. I mean a rejoicing, jumping-for-joy thank-you from the bottom of your heart (James 1:2). Chances are that God is doing the thumping. And he’s doing it for your own good. So every thump is a reminder that God is molding you (Hebrews 12:5-8).

Learn from each thump. Face up to the fact that you are not “thump-proof.” You are going to be tested from now on. You might as well learn from the thumps—you can’t avoid them. Look upon each inconvenience as an opportunity to develop patience and persistence. Each thump will help you or hurt you, depending on how you use it.

Be aware of “thump-slump” times. Know your pressure periods. For me, Mondays are infamous for causing thump-slumps. Fridays can be just as bad. For all of us, there are times during the week when we can anticipate an unusual amount of thumping. The best way to handle thump-slump times? Head on. Bolster yourself with extra prayer, and don’t give up.

Remember no thump is disastrous. All thumps work for good if we are loving and obeying God.

Dedicated To All The Ford Fans At MANZONE

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5196117387579780290" style="DISPLAY: block; Amazingly, the combination of very light weight (a Lotus "religion" has always been lightening the car as much as possible) and a high revving 1.8-litre engine was enough to have Scott Bargwanna on the rear bumper of the lead Ferrari. Then it was daylight back to the gaggle of Lambo's and Ferraris. The black Coopers Ferrari couldn't shake off the British car despite having twice the engine size. And in true David v Goliath style the Lotus kept sniping at the Italian machine looking for ways around it. This would have to be the most visible Christian-promoting racing car in the nation. Ps. Colin Crome brought a very challenging and inspiring message at today's BBQ breakfast. He began with John 15:9- Jesus values us so much He was willing to die for us; He not only laid down His life for those who love Him...but also for the enemies of His Father, those who choose not to accept Him. Totally sacrificial love. Colin went on to say that God is passionate about winning the war against sin. About saving the lost from hell. There is a war for the souls of man. A war on the family. On morality. People can't survive without Jesus in their life, we need to be active in sharing the gospel message. Our workmates are going to hell. We are warriors in the battle. We face an enemy every day. Satan tries to convince the world there is no battle. That he doesn't exist. There is no hell. When we speak to someone about salvation in Christ we set a cosmic battle in motion for that person's soul. Hell is trying to take over this world. It is unscrupulous, deceiving, crafty. We need to remove everything from our life which Satan can take advantage of. Colin went on to talk of Gallipoli. The Australians who fought there were the only volunteers. They were passionate about defending freedom, their nation, the Commonwealth. They were pro-active. Willing to lay everything on the line. We have to have a passion for what we believe in . Be willing to give everything for it. To lay down our lives for it. Victory (changing our world to accept Jesus Christ as Saviour and God's value system) at all costs - regardless of how long it takes. Even if something looks impossible...is there some way we can "have a go". He read out speeches by inspirational world leaders who were passionate and not willing to give up: Winston Churchill as the German bombers came over and flattened England...Josef Stalin as he faced invasion from Germany. They were not willing to give up.

An excellent message and typical of what you hear at MANZONE events.

Register your name now for WILDFIRE Mens Conference on June 21 where you will hear a feast of inspiring messages from Pastor Mark Zaia and Rob Thornton.

WILDFIRE MENS CONFERENCE - JUNE 21

It's on again! This is from the official media release from Lotus Australia commenting on the amazing result scored in the tiny normally aspirated sports car which was driven by three men including "Jesus. All About Life" V8Ute steerer Andrew Fisher who is our guest at the March 15 BBQ breakfast at Abundant Life Church Blayney. The release goes on to say... "Thanks to the Lotus’s superbly balanced aluminium chassis, tyre and brake wear was never an issue. Completing 241 laps, and covering over 1500km, the Exige covered the full 12 hours on the one set of brakes pads and one set of tyres, with only a precautionary change of the right rear tyre at the six-hour mark during a safety car period. The three-driver crew consisted of Lotus Trophy racers Mark O’Connor, Andrew Fisher and Richard Buttrose, who lapped consistently and similar to each other to exploit the Exige’s reliability and ability to run extended stints compared to the more powerful turbos and V8s. Whilst we lacked the grunt of our top ten rivals on the long straights and the climb, the superior handling of the Lotus meant that it was one of the quickest cars across the tricky top section. The Exige’s strength was its fuel economy, stated O’Connor. The Lotus Exige runs a normally aspirated 1.8-litre producing 141kW in a package weighing 875kg. Its low burn rate meant we were able to complete the 12 hour race with only five pit stops - four less than anyone else in the top 10! It meant drivers had to stay in the car for two-hour stints but being so easy to drive, this wasn’t a problem. The car was as strong at the end of the race as the start, with the Exige settings its fastest circuit on lap 191 of its completed 241. None of the 11 man crew had competed in an enduro before, and to their credit performed like seasoned professionals." Race engineer Neal Trama from Canberra is also a committed Christian, like Andrew. Neal was involved in 4 cars in the Bathurst 12 Hour with his other 3, normally aspirated Toyota Celicas, finishing 1-2-4 in class! We will be inviting Neal to speak at one of our events later in the year.

There is still time to register for the "Life In The Fast Lane" BBQ Breakfast on March 15 at Blayney. It's only $5.00 and you get to hear from Andrew Fisher and to see his awesome V8 ute close-up. Enough is no longer enough. We have forgotten how to enjoy guilt-free leisure. Some people even boast that they have a certain number of hours each week or that they haven't taken annual leave in years. Work is a source of identity for many men. Let's face it, what is one of the first things we do when we meet someone? "What do you do for a living?" Burn out rather than rust out is not Godly. Not only is it good to relax - it is essential! Some say the more exhausted we are (from doing church work or community services) the more spiritual we are. Did Jesus take a break now and then? Yes! He led a life of balance. He accomplished everything His Father sent him to do...and smelt the roses along the way. God asks us to imitate Him in Ephesians 5:1. The Greek translation for "be imitators" is MIMEOMAI from where we get the word mimic. It is used in a continuous tense, meaning that to imitate is a constant practice or habit. Mimicking God needs to be a daily habit. That means separating ourselves from the noise and pace of the world, valuing quietness, slowing things down for a moment. Being willing to say no to more activities. "Be still" He says in Psalm 46:10. Leisure is free activity. Labour is compulsory activity (our job). So, leisure is not necessarily lying in a hammock. It can mean achieving something...but at a different pace and for different reasons. In leisure we gain a bigger perspective of the world (beyond our job profile). This can be when we help someone in the community. Go to Genesis and see that God was involved in 4 activities. He created, He communicated, He rested, He related to us. (1) Creation: God planned and imagined, he came up with an indescribably beautiful universe and placed mankind into it. Consider the amazing attention to detail of all that is around us. We should consider creating something...a piece of music, a drawing or painting, writing a letter, designing a garden bed, making something from wood, building a wall in the yard. (2) Communication: God commented on each stage of His creation and said it was good, then the Godhead communicated between themselves in Genesis 1:26 before creating mankind, then after mankind had been created God spoke to him. When you take leisure time use that time to talk to yourself in a positive, uplifting way. Don't be shy to say to yourself "Good job!" when you build that wall or stain that coffee table or fix that old engine. Be pleased with yourself. This is not conceited pride, it is acknowledging that we are capable of doing good things. And when we say it we are giving glory to our Creator. Communicate with yourself, and take time to communicate with others. Listen "slowly", don't be in a hurry to say anything back. Listen...understand...feel...respond. Like God does. (3) Rest: Genesis 2:1-3 shows that God rested. It wasn't because He was tired! Or that He had run out of fresh ideas! He stopped and He blessed the rest day. It is the only day He blessed. Make rest a priority. He did. How? We need a good night's sleep often...a full day's rest once a week...extended vacation times...moments (maybe a "cat nap"?) here and there during the week to change pace.Play, fun, rest and leisure need to be given importance. Dignity. They are not an admission of weakness. In fact, we become more efficient in our work when we do rest. Here's one simple method: change your routine. Don't get into a rut. Stop and listen to your favourite music for a few hours. Jump on a bike. Take a cooking class (the wives will love you for it!!!). Plant a tree. Go through your old family albums. Kick a ball around at the local park. (4) Relating: God saw that mankind needed a mate (Gen 2:18) and He created the solution...then in the cool of the day (Gen 3:8) He took time out to relate to His creation. We are highly valuable to Him. He observed us, talked to us... Let's make leisure a priority!!!!!!!!!

Becoming A Person Of Influence

Notes from the brilliant book by John Maxwell... You don't have to be high profile to be of influence. Everything that you do impacts others. By becoming influential you create the opportunity to make a positive effect on society. There are different levels of influence: personhood, people development, production, permission and position. Level 1 is "modelling" where people are influenced by what they see you do. Let people get to know you, become credible (you can "borrow" credibility by letting a third person introduce you to someone, and their good reputation can fast-track your relationship). Level 2 is "motivating" or being an encourager on an emotional level. People feel good about you. Level 3 is "mentoring" where you are pouring your life into other people, to help them reach their potential. Much like a sports coach. And level 4 is "multiplying" where the people you have positively influenced are now going out and influencing others themselves...adding value to people. When you delegate responsibility (to an employee) you give them authority. This is a similar scenario. What comes first...integrity. It is the platform for influence. Be good in the little things. It builds trust, respect and dignity. Character is more important than credentials. Image is secondary. Trust is the glue of relationships. It means being honest. Admitting mistakes. Our world is desperate for good leaders. They want to see someone who doesn't overpromise, doesn't hog the limelight, handles power well, is generous.

ANDREW ATTRACTS A CROWD!

2007 V8Utes Rookie of the Year, Andrew "Fishtail" Fisher, the driver of the "Jesus. It is passed down from father to son...but more importantly from Father to son. Adam, Abraham, Jacob, David...they all learned who they were out of their intimacy with their spiritual father, God. After all, no one but God really sees who a man is on the inside. this is often thought of with a sense of guilt. Yes, I know God can see me...and what He sees is my sin, my failings. No He doesn't. Your sin has been dealt with. He has removed it from you "as far as the east is from the west" (Psalm 103:12). When your Father looks at you He doesn't see your sin, He has not one condemning thought towards you (Romans 8:1). You have a new heart. He promised it as part of the new covenant He has with you. "I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit in you" (Ezekiel 36"26). Be thankful that you have a loving Father who knows and loves you for who you are. He will teach you be a Man.

God Loves Wildness

"If you have any doubts as to whether or not God loves wildness spend a night in the woods...alone. Take a walk out in a thunderstorm. Go for a swim with a pod of killer whales. The Grest Barrier Reef with its great white sharks, the jungles of India with their tigers, the deserts of America with those rattle snakes. Would you describe them as "nice" places? Most of the earth is not safe. But it is good. After God created all this He pronounced it good. It's His way of letting us know He rather prefers adventure, danger, risk, the element of surprise. There are many action packed stories but one which stood out to me was a reminder that in doing life we need to continue with the same zeal, integrity and desire for righteous living that we have in our younger, energetic years all the way through to when we finally leave this world for eternity. It's like sport. I love rugby, rugby league, cricket and basketball. How many times have you seen a team dominate a match then lose it in the final quarter...or final minutes. A lot! I remember when the Wallabies won the Bledisloe Cup three years in a row in the dying seconds of each test match. The story that struck me wasn't about secret missions or commando raids. It was about one of the founding fathers of the SAS. He was their highest ranking officer in WW2. All his life he had been larger than life. He became an engineer at Cambridge University where he was also a boxing champion...graduated from military college as an officer and their boxing champion...he spoke several languages...helped to train and lead the amazing Chinese jungle fighters in WW2 against the Japanese...led the SAS behind enemy lines on D-Day...was decorated 13 times in WW2 for bravery (!)...then when the SAS looked like it was going to be disbanded in peace time he campaigned long and hard to keep them. He was rewarded with commanding them in Malaya where his jungle training came in handy. Up til now I was thinking this guy is a real legend. What more could he do! But this was when his life took a major tumble...in the "second half" of his "match". He had been hiding a drinking problem and it got so bad that a general was sent in to kick him out. The officer was demoted, transferred, and the drinking got so bad he was dishonourably discharged. He became a miserable, penniless drunk and died prematurely from liver complications. He had gone from "the team most likely to win the premiership" to "bottom of the ladder" in just a few years. And, shamed by his behaviour, the SAS deleted him from their official historical records. Life is a marathon not a sprint race. Like Paul says in Hebrews 12:1 "Let us run with endurance the race [our life] that God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus from start to finish."

V8 Blokes Breakfast - Feb 9

Hosted by CCC Bathurst, the V8 Blokes Breakfast is being held at Bicentennial Park in Bathurst on Saturday morning. It's a thin paperback, the kind you get through pretty quickly. By Jeffrey E. Miller (I got mine from Koorong). He has pinpointed 12 areas where men often struggle. By identifying them you are on the right track to overcoming them. What are they? Individualism, Insensitivity, Unteachability, Discontentment, Unchecked Motives, Absence (from the family), Partial Obedience, Unresolved Anger, Lust, Misplaced Priorities (no, the kids do come before the golf or cricket on TV!), Manipulation, and Deflecting Responsibilities. We've had such a wide variety of upbringings. One guy is even an ex Kiwi. "Ex" he keeps reminding us! But we've all got one thing in common. We love Jesus Christ. It is located at Rusembe which is 2 kilometres from the township of Hoima, northwest of the capital of Kampala. Joseph lives with his family and goes to school. He says his favourite subject is art and he likes music. Also, he is car mad and soccer mad which means the men of MANZONE will have plenty to discuss with him in our letters. Each month a portion of our event "fee" will go towards providing for Joseph. If you would like to write to him contact Craig Hingston (craighingston@gmail.com or 0407 054483).

Come N Try

A community intiative of MANZONE in 2008 will be the launching of "Come N Try" driver training at Blayney. Come N Try is an activity which has been run by the Christian Autosport Club of Australia (CACA) for 30 years. It involves taking road going cars on normal street tyres around tight obstacle courses marked by flags or witches hats. Cars travel in first and second gears, and sometimes reverse. It isn't about speed, it is about car control.

CACA uses grass surfaces and a concrete skid pan at Eastern Creek Raceway. Up to 5 people can cross-enter in 1 vehicle and often whole families get involved. You are never too young or too old to improve your driving skills. It can be done in a safe environment and there are always experienced rally drivers and circuit racers in CACA who can sit in the car to offer advice.

Craig Hingston first joined CACA in 1994 and has won their Presidents Award three times. Trevor Hibbs has also joined up and the two of them won the annual Wombat Award in 2007 for outstanding promotion of the club in a non-competitive way. Craig and Trevor presented the Come N Try concept to council, highway patrol and the regional road safety officer. The proposal was given a green light and council are looking for a suitable venue in the area.

We have been told that during the winter months when there is ice on the road there are dozens of accidents in the region. The goal will be to give people more confidence when their car breaks traction and know how to better control it. Hopefully preventing damage to person and property.

The first Come N Try is planned for Saturday July 19. It will be an all day activity involving up to 8 obstacle courses and a BBQ lunch. The minimum age is 14. A one day licence has to be purchased on the day. For more info contact Craig or Trevor.

Check Out The Ute Brute!

For more information on Andrew Fisher go to -

www.jesusracing.com.au

Life In The Fast Lane!

He drives a V8 Ford Falcon ute (of course!) extremely quickly...he is the 2007 Rookie Of The Year in the V8 Utes Championship...he is a full-on Christian...and he is coming to Blayney!
