WILDFIRE Guest Speaker: Rob Thornton

After a life changing, bedside conversion at 16 Rob started out in ministry as a street preacher. He left home at 17 to join a travelling evangelist and later attended Bible College in Adelaide, graduating in 1967. As a youth pastor he saw a "mini revival" at a youth drop-in center he established in Parramatta. Many of the young people who were saved and filled with the Spirit at that time are serving God today. He worked with Pastor Gordon Gibbs in establishing the Penrith Christian Fellowship Centre in Western Sydney and went on to become the Senior Minister in the early eighties. The church grew to become one of the largest Pentecostal churches in Sydney at the time with excellent ministry training facilities and a flourishing Christian School, and some very successful Church plants. Rob's vision has always been to train others for Christian Ministry and as a result dozens of men and women are serving God here in Australia and in various places arround the world - some in quite significant churches. Rob's refreshing teaching style and over 45 years of ministry experience will make for a dynamic and life challenging time at 'Wildfire'
